PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION: TADEJ POGAČAR – BEHIND THE BIG STAGE

Along the School Path in Komenda, a photography exhibition offers a glimpse into Tadej’s life journey, including moments that were once hidden from the public eye and remain less known.

France Stele, the photographer and author of the accompanying text, remarked during the exhibition’s opening: “While capturing events in my hometown with my camera—ski jumps at Gora, scouts by the Tunjščica stream, or local football players on the field—I unknowingly ‘caught’ Tadej as well. At the 2009 cycling race for the Komenda Cup, I casually took a few shots of children standing by the racecourse, watching the ‘real’ cyclists like I was, and waiting for their turn to compete. I’m no clairvoyant, so I had no idea then that among these ‘youngsters’ was someone who would, within a decade, become the best cyclist in the world… I titled this photography exhibition: Tadej Pogačar Behind the Big Stage. For the exhibition, I selected photos that showcase events in Komenda while Tadej was competing and winning on major cycling stages in France, Italy, and beyond.”

The exhibition was reviewed by Tadej’s father, Mirko Pogačar. The idea and coordination were led by Janja Železnikar, while Agata Stele handled the design. Ana Gruden proofread the Slovenian texts, and Nataša Gerič translated them into English. The project received financial support from the Municipality of Komenda and Mayor Jurij Kern.

The exhibition location is marked on the map of Komenda.
