New Carthago C-Compactline for the ultimate cycling experience
At the beginning of May, together with Pogi Team members and my parents, I attended the Carthago Cycling Day in Odranci, where we hung out with the employees, enjoyed cycling together and picked up our new campervan, which was the main event of the day.
As always, Carthago has done a great job. There was a large covered stage in front of the factory, the Carthago band played on stage and a delicious Prekmurje feast was prepared for everyone before the event started. Despite the rainy weather, many Carthago employees gathered in front of the factory under the parasol.
Before we got on our bikes, the Director of Carthago, Ms Sandra Županec, had a speech about our beautiful partnership and cooperation. As a gesture of my appreciation, I gave her the Slovenian jersey I wore at last year’s World Championships in Belgium. Then it finally arrived, black beauty with gold inscribed words and my picture on the back of the campervan. It’s beautiful, I thought, and I couldn’t wait to see it from the inside.
Winning duo on long stage tours
For the second year in a row, I am proud to be part of the big Carthago family, a successful German premium caravan manufacturer that also has a plant in Slovenia and will open another one in Ormož next year. Every time I experience an extremely warm and friendly welcome, and when I’m there I feel like we’ve known each other for longer than we have.
Carthago and I are basically on the same level. We have a lot in common. I did my first race for the Rog Ljubljana Cycling Association, and Carthago drove his first campervan from the factory. In the same year we both achieved prestigious titles, I won my first Tour and Carthago was able to win the prestigious Innovation Award that year. We even share the same values: team spirit, endurance, travelling long tours, motivation and trust.
And my slogan “Never give up and never give in” is complemented by Carthago’s “Never change a winning team”.

My plans for my new campervan
After picking up the camper van, we went cycling with the staff. None of us minded the raindrops, on the contrary, many of them decided to ride with me on the route despite the wet conditions. After fifteen kilometres, I greeted the group and cycled through Ptuj and Mozirje towards my hometown Komenda.
Besides me and my family, who will be accompanying me on my third Tour this year, the new campervan will also be used by the youth team Pogi Team UAE Generali. I will be able to test it out next week when I will see some of the important routes of this year’s Tour de France. I’m already looking forward to this adventure, I’m sure we’ll have a lot of kilometres together, as nice and comfortable as possible.
